FAQs

  • Therapeutic Approaches Used by Hallie:

Hallie is trained in a variety of evidence-based clinical modalities to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach to psychotherapy. During your initial assessment, Hallie will work closely with you to understand your unique challenges, goals, and history. Based on this assessment, Hallie will identify the most effective therapy techniques to address your specific needs and support your growth.

Some of the modalities Hallie uses include:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. By learning to reframe negative thinking, you can reduce emotional distress and improve decision-making, leading to healthier actions and a more balanced mindset.

    • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Developed specifically for trauma survivors, CPT helps individuals process traumatic events and the way these events shape their thoughts and behaviors. By learning to challenge distorted thoughts about trauma, CPT helps you break free from unhelpful patterns and begin healing from the emotional and psychological impacts of trauma.

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT combines mindfulness techniques with behavioral change strategies. The goal is not to avoid or suppress uncomfortable emotions, but to accept them and move forward in ways that align with your core values. ACT encourages psychological flexibility, helping you act in ways that enrich your life, even in the face of challenges.

    • Family-Based Therapy (FBT) for Eating Disorders
Family-Based Therapy (FBT), also known as the Maudsley Approach, is an evidence-based treatment specifically designed to support individuals struggling with eating disorders, particularly adolescents. Unlike traditional therapy, which often focuses solely on the individual, FBT recognizes that family dynamics and involvement play a crucial role in the recovery process.

    • Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (E-CBT)
An advanced, integrative approach to treating eating disorders that combines the core principles of traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with additional strategies to address the emotional and psychological complexities of eating disorders. E-CBT is designed to help individuals identify and change the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that contribute to the maintenance of their eating disorder. This approach is especially effective for individuals who may have been struggling with eating disorders for an extended period, or who have not responded to standard CBT.

In E-CBT, Hallie works to address the underlying emotional difficulties that often drive disordered eating behaviors, such as body image issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, and trauma. The therapy also focuses on building emotional resilience and enhancing self-compassion, two key areas that can help individuals break free from the cycle of disordered eating.

    • Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT)
RO-DBT is designed for individuals who experience difficulties with emotional over-control and social connection. This approach helps you develop greater openness and flexibility in both your emotions and relationships, encouraging a balance between self-control and emotional expression.

    • Christian-Centered Therapy
(For clients who desire) Christian-Centered Therapy integrates spiritual and biblical principles into traditional therapeutic approaches.
Hallie believes your spiritual beliefs and practices are a meaningful part of who you are. As part of a whole-person approach to care, she offers the option to integrate your faith into the therapeutic process—at your pace and in the ways that feel most authentic to you. Whether that includes prayer, biblical principles, or mindfulness rooted in your values, Hallie is here to support you as you draw strength from your faith in the moments you need it most.

By tailoring treatment to fit your individual needs, Hallie can guide you toward meaningful change in a way that feels most comfortable and effective for you. Together, we will identify the right therapeutic approach to support your journey.

  • Insurance & Payment Information:

I am currently in-network with the following insurance providers:

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

    • Aetna

    • Quest Behavioral Health

    • Carelon Behavioral Health

    • Cigna

For all other insurance providers, I am considered an out-of-network provider.

    What This Means for You:

If your insurance provider is not listed above, I will bill you directly at the time of your session. I will then provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Many clients are successfully able to use their out-of-network benefits to help cover the cost of therapy. To determine your coverage, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly and asking the following questions:

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company:

    • What are my out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and has it been met?

    • Do I (or my child) need a referral from a primary care provider?

    • How many therapy sessions are covered per year?

    • Can I request in-network coverage for this therapist due to their specialization?

Helpful Billing Codes for Insurance Inquiries:

When speaking with your insurance provider, you may be asked for the following service codes:

    • 90791 – Initial Diagnostic Assessment

    • 90834 – 45-minute Therapy Session

    • 90837 – 53-60 Minute Therapy Session

    Important Note:

You may see my name associated with your insurance network due to my work at the Children’s Hospital, where I provide inpatient services. Please note that I am only considered in-network within the hospital setting, not at my private outpatient clinic.

    Insurance Credentialing Update:

I am currently in the process of credentialing with most major insurance companies. As these contracts are finalized, I will update this page with any new in-network affiliations.

If you have any questions or need help navigating the reimbursement process, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to provide any necessary documentation to support your claims.

Clients are responsible for checking their own insurance benefits.

  • Please contact Hallie to inquire about rates for services.

Fee’s are due at the time of service. We will provide a superbill in case you wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement directly from your insurance carrier.  We will also provide a “Good Faith Estimate” summarizing the anticipated cost of your services when you initiate treatment.

As of January 1, 2022, state-licensed or certified health care providers need to give a Good Faith Estimate of healthcare charges to every client who is either uninsured or is not planning to submit a claim to their insurance for the healthcare services they seek. As an out-of-network provider many of our clients will choose to not submit to their insurance provider, therefore, they are eligible to receive a Good Faith Estimate. The Good Faith Estimate is included in the Client Agreement form that new clients complete prior to the initial assessment.

  • Your appointment time is reserved just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments without notice will result in a full session fee, unless there are extenuating circumstances. I understand that life happens—please reach out as soon as you're able.

  • Telehealth allows your child to receive high-quality therapy from the comfort and safety of home. Sessions take place via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and is designed to be engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate.

Before the first session, you'll receive a link and simple instructions to join the video call. For younger children a parent or caregiver may be asked to join for part—or all—of the session to help with communication, technology, or emotional support. Older children, and teens often attend sessions more independently, with periodic check-ins from parents/caregivers. Young adults may attend therapy by themselves, but are welcome to invite people from their support network to join sessions.

Therapy activities might include conversation, creative expression (like drawing or play), and skill-building exercises. Hallie works to build a strong connection with each client, even through a screen, and helps them feel safe, seen, and understood.

Telehealth is flexible, convenient, and effective—and Hallie will guide you every step of the way to make sure you or your child gets the support that is needed.
